After Voters approved a $48 million Quality of Life project in 2012 planning has been under way for the massive project. The park, located along Hueco Club Road south of Montana Avenue in the far East, is set to expand over 92 acres making it almost twice the size of Album Park. The recreation center will offer a large recreation pool that also features a lazy river & the aquatics area will include a natatorium with a 50-meter “competition-ready” Olympic size swimming pool. There are three phases planned for the construction of the park. The first phase is to consist of the construction of the recreation center and reach substantial completion by summer of 2018. Other phases of the construction of the park include four diamond fields, six flat fields, handball, volleyball & multi-use courts. Playgrounds, a dog park, skatepark, BMX park and an amphitheater are also planned. This is great news for the residents of East El Paso where residential and business development continues to grow.
